Rotary furnace can rotate forward and reverse, with fast and slow driving device [2].


There is a limit position for positive and negative rotation respectively:


The forward limit position is the slag pouring position, and the reverse limit position is the position after copper water casting. For the convenience of operation, there are also oxidation and reduction positions, heat preservation positions, feeding positions, etc.

When furnace feeding, slag pouring, oxidation and reduction, adopt fast driving; when casting, adopt slow driving. At the same time, in order to avoid the accident caused by sudden power failure when the rotary furnace is in the non thermal insulation position, the accident drive motor is also set to ensure the rotary furnace to rotate to the thermal insulation position safely.


The furnace body of the rotary furnace is a long steel cylinder lined with refractories. The furnace body is supported on several pairs of supporting wheels and has an inclination of 3% - 6%. The furnace body rotates slowly driven by the motor through the gear. The material is added from the higher end and discharged from the lower end. Fuel (pulverized coal, heavy oil or gas fuel) is injected into the head end of the furnace to burn in the furnace, and the flue gas is discharged from the higher end (material and flue gas countercurrent).


It is mainly used for calcining cement clinker in the cement industry, as well as for calcining granular and powdery materials in the refractory and ceramic industries and drying various raw materials in the above industries. It is widely used in drying, dehydration and baking materials in chemical industry.

After pouring the slag, the furnace body rotates to the original oxidation position, but this time it is not compressed air, but liquefied petroleum gas (or heavy oil, ammonia, etc.) for reduction. After the reduction, the furnace body rotates to make the copper water continuously and evenly discharged from the pouring gate, and then enters the casting machine through the chute for casting. After casting, the furnace body continues to be insulated, waiting for the fifth batch of converter materials to be added.


The third batch and the fourth batch of materials have been added into the second rotary furnace when the rotary furnace is reducing or casting. So far, the rotary furnace has completed a working cycle.

(1) It can meet the process requirements of various temperature curves and realize the production of products with different processes or even completely different processes in the same rotary furnace [1].


(2) High heating efficiency. Because the material increases the heating area of the material with the movement of the rotary furnace, enhances the function of heat conduction and heat radiation, shortens the firing cycle of the material; moreover, the furnace body thermal insulation material adopts the circular structure of fiber light material, which has the advantages of fast temperature rise, low heat storage, greatly reduced heat loss, and full utilization of heat energy.


(3) Excellent air tightness. Due to the special sealing structure, the sealability can reach 0.5 kPa in furnace pressure.


(4) Good atmosphere performance. Due to the improvement of air tightness, the space in the furnace can not only maintain the oxidation atmosphere (in the air) and neutral atmosphere (nitrogen or carbon dioxide, etc.), but also pass through the reducing gas.


(5) Perfect automatic control. The standardized PID intelligent control system is adopted to ensure the operability, reliability and advancement of the system. The heating system can set different firing heating curves according to various process requirements.


(6) The output of small-scale rotary furnace is small, which can only be used in the experiment and primary synthesis stage of products, and can not meet the mass production.


Large rotary furnace


(1) Material quality is even. The moving state of the material in the furnace is dynamic movement and turnover, and the material is evenly heated, which ensures the full reaction of the material.


(2) The maximum material heating temperature can be as high as 1400 ℃.


(3) The discharged waste gas can completely meet the national environmental protection standard without any desulfurization and dust removal facilities.


(4) The large rotary furnace is suitable for the intermediate stage of products or the final stage of finished products due to the large quantity of products. It can meet the requirements of mass production and can bring

(5) Perfect automatic control. A standardized feedback PID intelligent control system is adopted to ensure the operability, reliability and advancement of the system. The heating system can set different heating curves according to various process requirements.

At present, because of the advanced design technology and equipment, the sensitivity of computer control software, the rate of excellent products, energy consumption and production efficiency have changed a lot.


In particular, the changes in the past 10 years are more remarkable. Like other countries in the world, the research and development of rotary furnace has also been highly valued by our government. During the 11th Five Year Plan period, considering the strategy of maintaining energy security, improving the industrial competitiveness of new equipment and realizing the leap forward development of industrial equipment in China, the state set up the "major science and technology special project of new energy-saving and efficient rotary furnace" to jointly tackle key problems by organizing enterprises, universities, scientific research institutes and other forces. Through the efforts of more than 100 technical backbones of more than 20 enterprises, universities and scientific research institutes, we have achieved phased results.


The successful development of the new type of rotary furnace has basically solved the problem of calcining or synthesizing high-precision materials. By comparing the typical performance of various rotary furnaces, it can be seen that the new rotary furnace has the advantages of energy saving, high efficiency and high quality of firing products, but there are also problems such as high cost, short service life and uneven heating. At present, the service life of small-scale rotary furnaces in China is only 1000 ~ 2000, and that of medium-sized rotary furnaces is only 3000 ~ 4000. The low performance of the rotary furnace has become the "bottleneck" that restricts the ability of the rotary furnace and reduces the cost.
